Alessi — 5009/15 | Sottsass satin-finish steel bottle coaster

There is a quiet geometry in the perfect circle of this bottle coaster: fifteen centimeters in diameter, made of satin-finished stainless steel, with a polished edge that catches the light and returns it as a measured reflection. Supplied as a set of two, they are designed to inhabit the table without taking over the scene - ready to collect traces of wine and condensation with the discretion of those who know their role. The design bears the signature of Ettore Sottsass, a towering figure in 20th-century Italian design, founder of the Memphis group and creator of an aesthetic that questioned the meaning of everyday objects far beyond their practical function. Even in an apparently minor piece like this, Sottsass's hand can be recognized in the balance between formal rigor and the sensuality of the materials: the double finish - satin-finished in the center, polished at the edge - is not a decorative flourish, but a choice that defines the object's character, distinguishing the functional part from the representative one. We chose it for Stilmobili because it embodies a conviction we share: even the most discreet accessories deserve authorship. The 5009/15 bottle coaster is ideal for those who set a table with a conscious approach to design, for those who do not overlook details and know that it is precisely in everyday gestures that design reveals its true nature. It is a perfect gift for enthusiasts of late-20th-century design, and a natural complement to any quality tableware set. Design notes: Stainless steel with a satin finish and mirror-polished edge.
