Alessi — 5050 I | Sottsass Boston stainless steel shaker

There is something almost ritualistic about the gesture of shaking a cocktail. Alessi's 5050 I Boston shaker transforms it into an aesthetic act before it is even a technical one. Made of 18/10 stainless steel - a noble alloy, cool to the touch and capable of collecting the frost from the ice on its outer surface - this American shaker has the professional's essential silhouette: an elongated cylinder, calibrated proportions, and a generous 50 cl mouth that accommodates quantities worthy of a true bar. Its 28-centimeter height and 9-centimeter diameter make it balanced in the hand, almost natural to hold. Behind this object is the signature of Ettore Sottsass, a radical master of twentieth-century Italian design, founder of the Memphis group and a critical voice against all decorativism for its own sake. In collaboration with Alberto Gozzi, Sottsass brought to mixology the same formal discipline that characterized his entire body of work: no concessions to the superfluous, no detail that does not earn its place in the final form. The result is an object that does not need to introduce itself - it is recognizable on its own. At Stilmobili, we chose the 5050 I because it expresses a philosophy we share: good design does not belong only in the living room or kitchen, but naturally extends to everyday gestures, even the most convivial ones. It is the ideal tool for anyone furnishing a home bar with the same care they would use to choose a sofa - for the discerning cocktail enthusiast, the collector of designer pieces, and anyone who never separates pleasure from elegance. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel, capacity 50 cl, height 28 cm, diameter 9 cm. Designed by Ettore Sottsass with Alberto Gozzi for Alessi, permanent collection.
