Alessi — 5071 | Sottsass Stainless Steel and Crystal Cheese Grater

There is an almost ascetic simplicity to Alessi's 5071 cheese server: the purity of polished 18/10 stainless steel meets the transparency of crystal glass, creating a table object capable of transforming an everyday gesture - serving grated cheese - into a small ritual of style. The glass bell protects and reveals the contents at the same time, while the metal body reflects the light with that discreet sheen that is the unmistakable hallmark of fine Italian silversmithing. This piece bears the signature of Ettore Sottsass, one of the founding fathers of Italian radical design, co-founder of Memphis, and a figure equally at home in avant-garde poetics and industrial design. With Alessi, Sottsass created objects that embody a precise vision: the table as a space of material culture, where every accessory deserves the same formal attention as a work of applied art. The 5071 is a restrained and successful expression of this vision, far removed from Memphis's chromatic excesses yet imbued with the same design awareness. At Stilmobili, we chose this cheese server because it represents what we are always looking for: an object that does not demand attention, but is not forgotten. It is designed for those who love to set the table with care, for those who consider the table an extension of their domestic taste. Perfect as a gift for someone who lives intentionally, it fits naturally into both a contemporary kitchen and a more traditionally styled dining room. Design notes: polished 18/10 stainless steel, crystal glass - capacity 20 cl, diameter 11 cm, height 10 cm. Designed by Ettore Sottsass for Alessi.
