Alessi — 9093 9093/1 LAZ | Graves kettle with light blue whistle

There is something almost childlike yet deeply sophisticated about the bird-shaped whistle crowning the spout of the 9093. Made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, this kettle has the quiet solidity of objects made to last: the turned, well-proportioned body, the light blue polyamide handle that invites you to take hold, and the surface that reflects the kitchen light like a mirror just lightly clouded by steam. Placing it on the heat - or on an induction cooktop, thanks to its magnetic steel base - is a gesture that transforms tea preparation into a small daily ritual. The 9093 is perhaps the most famous piece designed by Michael Graves for Alessi, created in 1985 and quickly becoming an icon of Postmodernism applied to everyday objects. Graves, one of the most influential American architects of his time - designer of the Portland Building and Disney World's Dolphin Hotel - brought his poetics of symbols and color to Alessi: nothing is accidental, not even the whistling bird. That little bird is not a decorative embellishment; it is a statement of style, a way of saying that function can smile too. The kettle has entered the permanent collections of museums such as MoMA in New York. We chose it for Stilmobili because it embodies exactly that threshold where design ceases to be furnishings and becomes material culture. It is the perfect gift for those who love the kitchen as an aesthetic space, for the collector who knows the history of the piece, and for anyone who wants to bring an authentic fragment of 20th-century design into their kitchen. The light blue version, with its fresh, seasonal pigment, fits into contemporary settings with discretion and personality. Project notes: 1-liter capacity, diameter 20 cm, height 20.5 cm. Compatible with all cooktops, including induction. Handle and whistle in light blue polyamide (PA). 18/10 stainless steel.
