Alessi — 9094/8 | Aldo Rossi Steel and Glass Coffee Maker, 8 Cups

There is something profoundly architectural about the way Aldo Rossi's 9094 occupies the kitchen counter. The polished 18/10 stainless steel body engages in dialogue with the transparent heat-resistant glass in a balance that is already, even before the coffee is poured, a statement of taste. The pure cylindrical form, almost monumental in its simplicity, reveals its dual nature through its very materiality: the cool solidity of metal meets the visual lightness of glass, allowing the infusion to be observed as one would observe a landscape. Aldo Rossi — architect, theorist, and 1990 Pritzker Prize winner — left, through his collaboration with Alessi, some of the most significant pages in postwar Italian design. The 9094 coffee maker, designed in the 1980s, embodies the same formal grammar as his architecture: elementary geometries, an absence of superfluous ornament, and a constant tension between collective memory and abstraction. It is not an object that seeks to amaze through excess; it is an object that convinces through coherence. At Stilmobili, we chose the 9094/8 because it represents exactly what we look for when selecting a piece for the kitchen or dining room: the ability to transform an everyday gesture — preparing coffee for guests — into a moment of material culture. It is ideal for those who furnish thoughtfully, who recognize design as a form of thought, and who wish to bring not only a beverage but also a story to the table.
