Alessi — 9098 B | Polished stainless steel pepper mill by Michael Graves

There is something theatrical about Alessi’s 9098 B silhouette: a body in 18/10 stainless steel with an almost mirror-like shine, interrupted at the top by two black polyamide fins that resemble open arms, ready for use. Holding it is already a small daily ritual - the hand settles into place, the mechanism responds, and the pepper falls with precision. An object that inhabits the table without ever fading into the background. Michael Graves, the American architect and designer who was one of the most emblematic figures of postmodernism, brought to Alessi a perspective capable of translating architecture into highly recognizable household objects. His approach - ironic, narrative, never banal - finds one of its most refined expressions in the 9098 B: the geometry is clean but not cold, the decoration is reduced to the essentials yet still present, like an architectural detail that changes the way the entire volume is read. Graves began collaborating with the Crusinallo factory in the 1980s, leaving behind a collection that still engages with the present day. At Stilmobili, we chose the 9098 B because it conveys exactly what we look for: objects that carry a signature, an idea, and a story - while functioning with absolute elegance. It is ideal for those who want even the details of the table setting to reflect a cultivated taste, and for those who consider setting the table a creative act rather than a necessity.
