Alessi — AMJ13 7 | Star of Bethlehem, blown-glass Christmas ornament

There is something ancient and precious about hand-blown glass: a fragility that is strength, an imperfect perfection that no machine can replicate. Alessi's Comet Star is a nine-centimeter-diameter Christmas tree bauble, entirely made of blown glass and hand-decorated with the care and freedom characteristic of authorial craftsmanship. Hung among the branches, it captures the light and reflects it back transformed - as only glass can do. The design is by Marcello Jori for LPWK, as part of the *A di Alessi* collection, the extensive Christmas catalogue with which the Omegna-based company has succeeded in transforming the tradition of festive decorations into a field of genuine aesthetic research. Jori, an artist and illustrator with a pop and surreal sensibility, brings to this ornament his world of succinct forms and colors rich with memories. The result is an object that inhabits the tree with a personality of its own, recognizable among a thousand others.
