Alessi — Barkroll | Boucquillon Design Paper Towel Holder

Alessi Barkroll - The forest enters the kitchen

There is something unexpected about looking at a roll of kitchen paper and finding yourself thinking of the trees on the Tuscan hills. Barkroll brings that same feeling into the home: a surface that evokes bark, a form that rises like a trunk, and metal that takes on an almost natural fluidity. An everyday object that stops hiding and becomes a presence.

Why we chose it for you

Barkroll BM04 was created through the creative partnership of Michael Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui, designed around the trees surrounding their home in the hills of Lucca. Each piece is made at the Alessi factory in Crusinallo di Omegna - the same place where, since 1921, the Alessi family has transformed metal into design culture. The steel sheet is shaped through a series of processes that give it the organic, sinuous form designed by the two authors: the result is an object that carries within it the weight of a craft tradition and the lightness of a poetic idea.
