Alessi — Colombina FM10/76 | Bone china coffee cup

There is something almost theatrical about the Colombina coffee cup: the curve of the handle reaching out like an arm in motion, the shape of the body never compromising with simplicity. Made of fine bone china - a material with a milky luminosity and surprising lightness - this 7 cl cup presents espresso as an everyday ritual worthy of a stage setting. Holding it between your fingers is already an aesthetically complete gesture. Colombina was created by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, partners in life and design, among the most visionary interpreters of contemporary architecture on a global scale. Their approach to materials is the same one they apply to buildings: nothing is neutral, every curve carries meaning, every surface is a statement. With Colombina - the name recalls the mask of the Commedia dell'Arte, light and witty - the Fuksases bring the same sculptural tension that runs through their inhabited spaces to the table setting. The collection is part of Alessi's autumn/winter range, designed for tables in the colder seasons, when coffee becomes even more of a ritual and a comfort. We chose Colombina for those who never separate aesthetic taste from everyday gestures. It is the cup for those who see breakfast as a moment of lived-in design, not merely something to be consumed. It fits naturally into a contemporary, rigorous table setting, while engaging just as well with more eclectic surroundings where every object is chosen with biographical care. Project notes: bone china, capacity 7 cl, dimensions 7.5 × 6.5 cm. Part of the Colombina Collection for Alessi, designed by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas.
