Alessi Le Tonale DC03/41 — Four glasses that bring Giorgio Morandi's philosophy to the table

Some objects do more than simply contain things: they tell a story about how we gather around the table and inhabit our everyday gestures. Alessi's Le Tonale glasses, in the Light Earth colorway, bring the same chromatic calm that Morandi knew how to infuse into his still lifes to every meal - earthy, deep tones capable of transforming even breakfast into a moment of visual composition.

The Le Tonale project

Internationally renowned architect David Chipperfield designed this collection starting from a precise intuition: to look to the vernacular ceramics of East Asia - Korean, Japanese, and Chinese - and distill their essence into functional objects for the contemporary home. The name Tonale openly pays tribute to Giorgio Morandi's approach to color: his ability to make matter vibrate through restrained, never-shouted nuances. The result is a family of pieces - tray, cutting board, carafe, plates, bowls, glasses, and cups - that coexist with an apparent naturalness, as if they had always been there. The stoneware ceramic, in the Light Earth shade, carries with it the memory of earth and firing, making each piece slightly different from the next, in keeping with a thousand-year-old artisan tradition.
