Alessi — Dédé PS18 B | Starck resin doorstop

There is something disarming about Dédé's simplicity: a compact, almost rounded volume that rests on the floor with the quiet discretion of someone who knows they are indispensable. Made of deep, uniform black thermoplastic resin, the doorstop says a great deal about itself through its material alone - solid, matte, and free of ornament. The shape vaguely recalls an anthropomorphic silhouette, a detail that is not accidental but an unmistakable stylistic hallmark of its creator. Philippe Starck designed Dédé with the ironic lightness that has made his everyday objects famous: the ability to conceal complexity behind the obvious. Designed for Alessi - Starck's long-standing partner in some of the most iconic collaborations in international design - Dédé belongs to a tradition of objects that inhabit the home without ever disappearing into it. They do not camouflage themselves: they present themselves. The name itself, short and affectionate like a nickname, suggests an immediate familiarity with whoever brings it home. At Stilmobili, we chose it because it is one of those objects capable of revealing the character of a room without imposing itself on it. It is perfect for those who love designer pieces even in the most functional details - for those who cannot stand the idea that a doorstop should be anonymous. It suits contemporary and minimalist interiors, but can also hold its own in more eclectic settings, where black absorbs and reinterprets every colour context. Project notes: black thermoplastic resin, dimensions 17.5 × 16.5 × 17.5 cm, weight 2.07 kg. The mass itself is part of the design - stability is not declared, it is built in.
