There is something almost hypnotic about the way a blown-glass ball captures the light of the tree and returns it multiplied, transformed, suspended in the air like a small domestic miracle. Delight is exactly that: a nine-centimeter sphere in hand-blown glass, capable of containing all the sense of anticipation and wonder that Christmas brings. Its surface holds reflections and depth with that imperfect, lively quality that only the human breath can give glass. Delight was created by Nika Zupanc, a Slovenian designer among the most distinctive voices in the contemporary European design scene. Known for an approach that combines formal sensuality, references to pop culture, and a subtle romantic irony, Zupanc brings the same attention to detail to her collaboration with Alessi that characterizes the rest of her work. The piece is part of the Alessi Palinsesto fall/winter collection, designed to accompany the seasonal rhythms of the home with objects that remain, even after the holidays, worthy of being treasured. We chose it for Stilmobili because it is not simply an ornament: it is a design object that feels equally at home on the tree, in a composition on a shelf, in a glass bowl, or resting on a surface as a minimalist sculpture. It is for those who see Christmas decorating as a form of design, not a habit. For those who want every choice, even the smallest, to reflect authentic taste.
