Alessi — Dressed MW01/38 | Porcelain salad bowl with raised decoration

There is something deeply familiar about the Dressed salad bowl, yet every time it is brought to the table, something unexpected happens: grazing light enhances its relief details, while the floral motifs seem to emerge from the surface like antique embroidery on white linen. The porcelain is pristine, compact, and tactile in a way that invites you to brush your fingers along its edges. Its generous diameter - almost thirty centimetres - makes it a natural centrepiece, able to hold a seasonal salad with grace, as well as a fruit arrangement or a dessert to share. Dressed was created in 2012 from the imagination of Marcel Wanders, one of the most visionary Dutch designers of his generation, already known for the celebrated Knotted Chair and for a career built on the seemingly impossible equation between fairy tale and formal rigour. With this collection, Wanders brings to the table a decorative vocabulary inspired by the European tradition of ceremonial porcelain - lace, flowers, and geometric patterns - reinterpreted, however, with contemporary irony. The raised decoration is not ornament for ornament's sake: it is structure, identity, and the way an everyday object becomes a collector's piece.
