Alessi — ES16/75 | Sottsass airtight glass and beechwood jar

There is something profoundly domestic yet radically modern about this jar designed by Ettore Sottsass. The transparent glass body - spacious and generous in its 75 cl volume - meets a beech wood lid featuring Memphis's primary colors: red, black, yellow. Not a neutral pantry accessory, but an object that takes a stand, coloring the kitchen counter with the same determination with which Sottsass colored the world. Ettore Sottsass was one of the great dissidents of Italian design. Founder of the Memphis group in 1981, he overturned the canons of minimalist good taste by introducing patterns, bright colors, and pop references into design culture. The ES16/75 belongs to the Alessi 100 Values Collection, a tribute that the Crusinallo manufacturer wished to pay to the hundred founding values of its historical catalog: a living archive of pieces that marked the history of design applied to everyday objects. At Stilmobili, we chose this jar because it perfectly captures what we seek: the ability to transform the most ordinary gesture - storing, keeping - into a conscious aesthetic act. It is ideal for those who love to live with intention, for those who see the kitchen as a space of culture as well as function, and for those who want to bring home an authentic fragment of the history of 20th-century Italian design. Project notes: height 17 cm, diameter 12 cm, capacity 75 cl. Beech wood lid in Sottsass colors: red, black, yellow. Airtight glass body. Spring/summer collection. Net weight 580 g.
