Alessi — ES19 1 | Sottsass yellow beechwood salt mill

There is something immediately festive about the bright yellow chosen by Ettore Sottsass for this beechwood salt mill. The form is elementary, almost archetypal - a cylinder that narrows and widens with the confidence of someone who has nothing to prove - yet as a whole it radiates an unmistakable personality. Fifteen centimeters of presence on the table, seven in diameter: proportions calibrated to sit naturally in the hand, to turn between the fingers with the pleasure of an everyday gesture transformed into a small ritual. The ES19 code belongs to Alessi's 100 Values Collection, one of the Italian manufacturer’s most ambitious editorial projects: a catalog of objects designed by the masters of twentieth-century international design, intended to make the great Italian and international design tradition accessible - without ever making it banal. Ettore Sottsass, a central figure in radical design and founder of the Memphis group, brings his most recognizable signature to this piece: color as a language, simplicity as resolved complexity, and joy as an aesthetic category just as legitimate as any other. At Stilmobili, we chose this salt mill because it perfectly embodies what we look for in tableware: the ability to be effortlessly beautiful, adding character to a table setting without overpowering it. It is ideal for those who love design with a story to tell, for those who furnish a kitchen or dining room with the same care given to the living room, and for those seeking a genuinely valuable gift in an unexpectedly intimate format. Project notes: yellow-stained beechwood, height 15 cm, diameter 7 cm. Mechanism for salt, pepper, or spices. Part of the 100 Values Collection. Designer: Ettore Sottsass. Spring/summer collection.
