Alessi - "Forma" Design Grater in Stainless Steel

Alessi "Forma" — The Grater as Tabletop Sculpture

Some objects are used, while others are admired. Zaha Hadid's "Forma" does both with equal naturalness. Its organic silhouette — inspired by pebbles smoothed by water and wind — slips easily through your hands while grating, then takes its place on the table with the confidence of a design piece. The slightly concave base collects the cheese shavings and provides the perfect excuse to bring the object directly to the table, without transferring them.

Why we chose it for you

Alessi was founded in 1921 on Lake Orta as a craft workshop and gradually evolved into what Alberto Alessi calls a research laboratory in the applied arts. "Forma" embodies this vision: a functional object shaped from steel through a complex production process, capable of transforming an everyday gesture — grating — into something more deliberate. Having it in the kitchen means bringing to the table the signature of one of the most visionary voices in contemporary architecture.
