Alessi — Holyhedrics ESA09 1 | Salmistraro decorated porcelain mug

There is something ritualistic about holding a porcelain cup in your hands on winter mornings. Holyhedrics transforms this everyday gesture into a small act of wonder: the white surface comes alive with sacred geometries and polyhedral forms that seem to have emerged from a Renaissance mathematics treatise, reinterpreted through the dreamlike, colorful sensibility of one of the most original voices in contemporary Italian design. With its 40 cl capacity and 12 cm height, the mug fits naturally in the hand, but it is the eye that lingers on it, seeking new figures among the decorated sections. Elena Salmistraro — a Milanese architect and designer, renowned for a visual universe made of hybrid creatures, archaic symbols, and saturated colors — designed this mug for Alessi's Christmas collection with the same poetic intensity that characterizes all her work. The name itself, Holyhedrics, is an evocative neologism: the sacred (holy) meets the geometric solid (polyhedrics), suggesting a secular spirituality made of pure forms and decorative patterns that evoke both medieval art and contemporary visionary graphics. At Stilmobili, we chose Holyhedrics because it embodies exactly what we seek when we talk about a design gift: an object that is not merely useful, but tells a story and makes those who look at it think. It is the ideal gift for anyone who considers the table a space for care and beauty, for the Alessi collector who does not give up wonder even during the morning coffee routine, and for anyone who wants to place not a thing, but an emotion under the tree.
