Alessi — Itsumo NF08/89 | Yunoki porcelain mug with decoration

There is something timeless about the Itsumo cup - its name itself, in Japanese, means "always", "as always": an evocation of daily ritual, of that precise, reassuring gesture with which the first cup of the morning is brought to the lips. Made of impeccably crafted white porcelain, its form is restrained, almost silent - 10 centimetres wide, 9 high, with a 30 cl capacity that invites moderation - and across the white surface unfolds Samiro Yunoki's illustrative world: graphics with a folkloric yet thoroughly modern feel, where the line becomes narrative and the decoration becomes visual poetry. Naoto Fukasawa, one of the most authoritative Japanese designers of his generation, brings his customary ability to transform an everyday object into a complete sensory experience to the Itsumo project. The collaboration with Alessi - an Italian manufacturer long attentive to the dialogue between design culture and craftsmanship - has made it possible to merge Eastern aesthetic sensibility with European ceramic tradition, giving rise to a collection that belongs to the spring/summer season of the Alessi range, with the lightness of a cherry blossom. We chose Itsumo for its rare ability to be both an object of affection and a collectible piece. It is the right cup for those who experience the ritual of coffee or tea as a moment of mindful design, for those who love their everyday tableware to have something to say.
