Alessi — JM17/21 BT | Black round basket Jasper Morrison

A perfect circle that rests on the table like a minimalist gesture. Jasper Morrison's JM17/21 BT wastebasket for Alessi is made of steel coated with epoxy resin in a black finish: a surface that absorbs light without reflecting it, matte and absolute. The raised decoration running along the rim introduces a subtle tension between formal rigor and ornament - almost a restrained signature, a rhythm read with the fingers before the eyes. Its 21-centimeter diameter makes it the right size for containing items without overwhelming the space. Jasper Morrison is one of the most clear-sighted designers of his generation: British by training and a Berlin resident by choice for many years, he has built a visual language founded on subtraction. His work with Alessi follows this same direction - objects that do not seek attention but win it over time, through everyday use. The JM17/21 belongs to a family of wastebaskets that reinterpret Alessi's formal archive through Morrison's quiet visual language. At Stilmobili, we chose this piece because it embodies an idea of domestic beauty that does not shout. It is ideal for those who come to design through subtraction, who seek an element on the dining table or desk that can engage with any setting without overpowering it. Naturally, it finds its ideal setting in contemporary, Nordic, or brutalist interiors - but it can also surprise among warmer surfaces. Project notes: steel with an epoxy resin coating, matte black finish, raised decoration along the rim. Diameter 21 cm, height 4.7 cm. Net weight 534 g.
