Alessi — JM17/29 BT | Black round basket Jasper Morrison

A perfect disc, black as ink, resting on the surface with the absolute discretion of someone who has nothing to prove. Alessi's JM17/29 BT round basket is made of steel coated with black epoxy resin, a finish that transforms the metal into something tactilely unexpected: compact, matte, almost velvety. The embossed decoration on the surface introduces a subtle tension between geometry and material, between the rigor of the circular form and the discreet ornamentation that animates the piece's skin without disturbing it. Jasper Morrison - a British designer among the most influential of the past thirty years, and theorist of the so-called "Super Normal" - has built his creative philosophy around the idea that the best objects are those we recognize without knowing exactly why. With Alessi, Morrison brings this philosophy into a realm where function and beauty do not exclude each other, but seek each other out. The JM17 basket does not shout its presence: it inhabits it. We chose this piece for its ability to move between contexts without yielding to any of them. It works at the center of a table as a holder for bread, fruit, or small household objects; it works on a desk, in an entryway, or on a sideboard. It is designed for those who furnish spaces with patience and intention, who understand that black is not an absence of color but a precise choice of position. Ideal paired with other pieces from the Morrison collection for Alessi, or as a contrasting element in interiors with a warmer color palette. Project notes: diameter 29 cm, height 7.5 cm.
