Alessi — La Cintura di Orione 90200/14 L | 14 cm Sapper lid

There is something almost astronomical about the way a well-designed lid closes off the world. The one from *La Cintura di Orione* — the cookware set designed by Richard Sapper for Alessi — is a perfect disk of 18/10 stainless steel, polished inside and out, capable of restoring to the kitchen the same quiet dignity reserved for truly necessary objects. Its 14-centimeter diameter makes it suitable for the smaller formats in the series, those intended for precise preparations, almost like a goldsmith's work. Richard Sapper — a German designer with rigorous training, already the creator of the Tizio lamp and the ThinkPad computer — joined Alessi with a project that is both an aesthetic manifesto and a technical reflection on cooking. *La Cintura di Orione*, developed together with Alberto Gozzi and created under the aegis of Officina Alessi, represents one of the high points of so-called "professional cooking for the home": pots and lids that concede nothing to decoration, but everything to form that follows — inevitably — function. At Stilmobili, we chose this piece because it tells a story of rare design consistency. It is intended for those who see the kitchen as a laboratory rather than a stage set, and who recognize in the sheen of steel not ostentation but rigor. A meaningful gift for an industrial design enthusiast, or the ideal completion to a service worthy of being passed down. *Project notes* — 18/10 stainless steel, polished finish inside and out. Diameter 14 cm, height 4 cm. Net weight 263 g. Part of the Officina Alessi collection, a series now being discontinued: one more reason not to put it off.
