Alessi — Mattina BG06 WG | Warm Grey porcelain cake stand

There is something suspended about the time of day from which it takes its name: morning as a state of mind, as light that is still undecided, as domestic silence before the day fully opens. Mattina is a Warm Grey porcelain serving stand — a warm, enveloping grey, far from coldness — topped with a transparent PMMA dome that protects and reveals at the same time. The bamboo wood knob introduces an organic, tactile, almost handcrafted note that balances the industrial precision of polymethyl methacrylate and the purity of the ceramic. Holding that handle is already a gesture belonging to a slow ritual. Mattina was born from the pencil of BIG-GAME, the trio of designers founded in 2004 by Elric Petit, Grégoire Jolly, and Mauricio Ribeiro, with roots between Lausanne and London. Their approach to design is rigorous yet playful: in everyday objects, they seek the most essential form, one that requires no explanation. In this piece for Alessi, BIG-GAME works through subtraction, allowing the transparent dome to create a visual micro-environment, a domestic display space that transforms any arrangement — fruit, sweets, flowers — into an intentional still life. At Stilmobili, we chose Mattina because it embodies exactly what we seek in high-end tableware: the ability to be functional without giving up its contemplative dimension. It is designed for those who want the table to say something even when it is not set, for those who collect design pieces without turning them into museum objects, for those who recognize spring and summer — the stated season for this object — as the right time for bright, lightweight objects. Project notes: diameter 31.60 cm, height 21.50 cm. Warm Grey porcelain stand, PMMA dome, bamboo wood knob. Design by BIG-GAME for Alessi, spring/summer collection.
