Alessi — Maya 7320/20GRP | Iridescent round basket Greenpurple

There is something almost meteorological about the behavior of Maya's Greenpurple finish: depending on the viewing angle, the green dissolves into purple, and the purple gives way to green again, in a chromatic play that never quite settles. The round steel bin - twenty centimeters in diameter, a discreet presence on a surface - is coated with an iridescent resin that transforms an everyday object into a small visual anomaly, something that attracts the eye without openly asking for it. Maya is a creation by Giulio Confalonieri, a Milanese designer whose long collaboration with Alessi produced pieces capable of gracefully oscillating between irony and formal clarity. In Maya, Confalonieri works with the surface as if it were a living membrane: the form is essential, almost neutral, but it is the coating that carries the entire semantic weight of the design. The iridescent resin is not applied decoration; it is the very reason for the object's existence. We chose Maya for its ability to inhabit spaces without conforming to them. It is ideal for those who furnish thoughtfully but like to preserve an element of surprise - those who do not want every surface to always tell the same story. On the dining table, on a desk, in the kitchen or entryway: it changes tone with the light, the seasons, and whoever looks at it. Project notes: steel with an iridescent resin coating, Greenpurple color. Diameter 20 cm, height 7.5 cm. Net weight 500 g. Part of the Alessi Palinsesto spring/summer collection.
