Alessi — MP0215 1 | Sottsass maple salt and pepper mill

There is something deeply domestic about grinding salt or pepper at the table: a slow, almost meditative ritual that deserves tools of equal stature. Alessi's MP0215 set meets this need with three maple wood grinders - in a dual palette of natural and red - bringing the tactile warmth of wood, its lively grain, and its subtle fragrance to the dining table. Their generous seven-centimeter diameter and twenty-five-centimeter height give them a distinctly physical presence that is never intrusive. Behind this project are the hand and mind of Ettore Sottsass, a towering figure in twentieth-century Italian design, founder of the Memphis group and creator of a body of work in which color, material, and form always engage with something greater: the meaning of inhabiting, the pleasure of the everyday object elevated to a cultural fact. Designed for Alessi as part of the brand's main collection, the set embodies all of Sottsass's distinctive style: the balance between essential geometry and chromatic presence, between function and narrative. At Stilmobili, we chose this set because it perfectly embodies what we look for in tableware: the ability to be useful without being banal, decorative without being superfluous. It is ideal for those who want mealtime to become an aesthetic occasion as well, for those who furnish with intention and recognize an investment of affection as well as form in authorial design. A stylish gift for those who can appreciate the difference between an object and a work of art. Project notes: natural maple and red wood, height 25.5 cm, diameter 7 cm, weight 550 g. Designer: Ettore Sottsass. Alessi Collection, spring/summer program.
