Alessi — Plissé MDL15 B/CH | Black Michele De Lucchi toaster

There is something architectural about the way Plissé occupies the kitchen counter. The pleated surface of the black thermoplastic resin is not an ornament: it is a formal grammar, a vertical rhythm that transforms an everyday appliance into an object worthy of attention. The long double compartment generously accommodates not only slices of ordinary bread, but also baguettes and specialty breads, while the 18/10 stainless steel brioche warming rack - flanked by resin inserts - completes the morning ritual with the same precision with which a conductor brings a symphony to a close. Michele De Lucchi signs Plissé as one signs a manifesto. An architect and designer among the most influential figures of the second half of the Italian twentieth century, and already a leading figure in the Memphis movement in the 1980s, De Lucchi brings to this project his ability to see everyday life as poetic territory. The pleated texture recalls the curtains of Milanese windows, the folds of pleated paper, and the soft yet austere volumes that have characterized his research into the relationship between industrial form and domestic warmth. Plissé was created as part of Alessi's collection dedicated to kitchen appliances: a field in which the Crusinallo Dream Factory has chosen to apply the same design rigor reserved for cutlery and tableware. We chose it for those who believe that the quality of the morning begins with the quality of the objects with which it is experienced. Plissé is ideal for a contemporary kitchen in which black is a color of choice, not compromise - a kitchen inhabited by people who do not separate beauty from usefulness because they have never felt the need to.
