Alessi — Plissé MDL21 GR | Green De Lucchi electric kettle

There is something almost sartorial about Plissé. The rippled surface that runs across the body of the kettle is not merely a decorative detail: it is a texture that tells the story of the material, transforming the green thermoplastic resin into something alive, almost textile-like. In the morning light, when the water begins to heat and the steam rises in a thin veil, this object on the kitchen counter ceases to be an appliance and becomes a presence. The green chosen for this version - rich, botanical, contemporary - places it beyond the cycle of seasonal trends and within a palette that converses with nature without imitating it. Plissé was born from the mind of Michele De Lucchi, an architect and designer among the most influential figures in Italian design culture. A central figure in the Memphis movement in the 1980s, and later the protagonist of a long, coherent career spanning Olivetti, Deutsche Telekom, and countless collaborations with major European design brands, De Lucchi brings his unmistakable signature to this kettle: the ability to find formal dignity in everyday objects without excess. The pleating that gives the design its name pays tribute to the textile craft tradition, reinterpreted through industrial tools, in a perfect balance between memory and modernity. We chose it for Stilmobili because it represents exactly what we look for: an object that is not afraid to be beautiful in the kitchen, that does not hide in a cupboard but offers itself to the eye as it offers itself to the gesture. It is ideal for those who curate their spaces with intention, for those who consider even breakfast a moment of lived aesthetics, and for those who give gifts with the awareness that great everyday design is worth more than a thousand ornaments.
