Alessi — Proust AM43 1 | Mendini blown glass Christmas bauble

There is something profoundly melancholic and festive at the same time about a Christmas bauble bearing the name Proust. The hand-blown glass captures light like an involuntary memory - sudden, dense, luminous. Each bauble is a world in miniature, hand-decorated with the same craftsmanship used to preserve an emotion. The nine-centimetre diameter is the perfect size: large enough to stand out among the branches, intimate enough to be held in one's hands for a moment before being hung. Alessandro Mendini, one of the most visionary intellectuals of 20th-century Italian design, created some of the sector's boldest cultural projects for Alessi. The reference to Marcel Proust is not accidental: it recalls the celebrated Proust armchair from 1978, a manifesto of postmodern redesign and memory as design material. In this Christmas ornament, Mendini translates the same philosophy to an ornamental scale - decoration not as an addition, but as the essence. A tribute to tradition that becomes an affectionate critique of tradition itself. At Stilmobili, we chose this piece because it tells a story bigger than itself. It is the right object for anyone who wants the Christmas tree to become a space for culture and authentic beauty, far removed from the uniformity of seasonal décor. Ideal as a gift for a design collector, for anyone who loves Alessi beyond its function, or simply for those who believe Christmas deserves thoughtful aesthetic gestures. It should be noted that this is an end-of-series piece: one more reason to treat it as what it is - a small collector's item. Project notes: mouth-blown glass, hand decoration, 9 cm diameter, 130 g weight. Alessi Palinsesto autumn/winter collection. Final sale edition.
