Alessi — Pulcina MDL02/1 BB | Black aluminum espresso maker

There is something almost animated about the Pulcina: the rounded spout that projects outward with timid curiosity, the compact body that warms between your hands, and the silhouette that affectionately evokes the bird from which it takes its name. Made of black cast aluminum with a polyamide handle and knob, this one-cup espresso maker is not merely a tool for making coffee - it is a presence on the stove, a small morning ritual that transforms coffee preparation into a meaningful gesture. The Pulcina was born from a collaboration between Alessi and Michele De Lucchi, an architect and designer among the most authoritative figures in the contemporary Italian scene, who was already a leading figure in the Memphis movement and is the founder of AMDL CIRCLE. De Lucchi conceived the Pulcina with an obsessive focus on internal fluid dynamics: the profile of the pouring spout is designed to retain the first streams of watery coffee - often bitter and unpleasant - and release only the densest and most aromatic part of the extraction into the cup. A formal solution that is, at the same time, a functional solution: design as thought, not ornament. We at Stilmobili chose it because it perfectly embodies that tension between an object for everyday use and an object of culture that we seek in every piece in our selection. It is the ideal gift for those who love coffee with the same intensity with which they love well-designed products, for those who live in a small kitchen with great taste, and for those who know that even a one-cup object deserves to be chosen with care.
