Alessi — Spirale 7690/16 | Castiglioni Steel Ashtray

There is something hypnotic about looking at Achille Castiglioni's Spirale. Sixteen centimeters of polished 18/10 stainless steel winding around itself with the precision of someone who knows the difference between form and ornament. The mirrored surface captures the light and reflects it transformed, while the circular profile — seemingly simple — reveals, upon closer inspection, an elegant and functional construction logic. An object that does not hide, but does not shout: it rests on the table with the quiet confidence of someone who has nothing to prove. Achille Castiglioni was one of the clearest interpreters of 20th-century Italian design, capable of transforming every everyday object into a visual argument. With Spirale — which became part of the Alessi collection and, over time, a reference in tabletop design — Castiglioni applies his characteristic method: starting from function, stripping it of every decorative superstructure, and delivering to the user something that seems always to have existed. Code 7690/16 is now a quiet classic in the Alessi catalog, produced in polished 18/10 steel with a finish that does not age. At Stilmobili, we chose it because it represents exactly what we look for: objects in which the design is invisible, yet present in every millimeter. Spirale is ideal for anyone who wants to bring the rigor of great Italian design to a desk, coffee table, or study corner, without giving in to the temptation of décor for its own sake. A gift chosen for someone who knows how to recognize the difference. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel, polished finish. Diameter 16 cm, height 7 cm. Designer: Achille Castiglioni. Alessi collection, spring/summer lineup.
