Alessi — Tea Rex 9093REX B | Graves kettle with reptile whistle

There is something irresistible about the way the Tea Rex inhabits the cooktop. The conical silhouette of the 18/10 stainless steel - polished, precise, capable of reflecting the kitchen light like a slightly distorted mirror - culminates in a detail that overturns every expectation: a copper-metallic prehistoric reptile perched on the spout like a small Jurassic guardian. When the water reaches boiling point, the whistle emits its call. It is domestic theater, it is design that smiles. The Tea Rex is a variant of the celebrated 9093, the kettle Michael Graves designed for Alessi in 1985, which almost immediately became an icon of postmodernism applied to everyday objects. Graves - an American architect, a central figure in the postmodernist movement, known for Disney World's Swan & Dolphin Hotel and for his extraordinary ability to bring figurative storytelling to industrial design - transformed a functional object into a collectible piece. The Rex version replaces the classic whistling bird with a copper-metallic polyamide dinosaur, amplifying that playful yet cultured streak that is the most authentic hallmark of the collaboration between Graves and the Factory of Dreams in Crusinallo. At Stilmobili, we chose the Tea Rex because it perfectly represents what we seek: objects capable of sparking conversation, inhabiting a space with personality without ever compromising on material quality. It is the perfect gift for those who love design with a narrative element, for Alessi collectors, and for anyone who considers the kitchen a place of culture as well as everyday practicality. Its compatibility with induction cooktops - thanks to its magnetic steel base - makes it contemporary and versatile. Project notes: capacity 200 cl, diameter 22 cm, height 22.5 cm. Handle in black heat-insulating material. Suitable for all cooktops, including induction.
