Alessi — Todo RS08 | Sapper steel and wood grater

There is something deliberately theatrical about Todo: its elongated form, almost monumental at forty-six centimeters high, transforms an everyday gesture - grating cheese, adding the aroma of nutmeg to a dish - into a small domestic ritual worthy of attention. Steel meets wood with the artisanal precision that only Alessi knows how to orchestrate: the metal is cold, precise, unfailing in performance; the wood brings warmth, tactility, and the memory of a kitchen that still has something to tell. Richard Sapper, a designer of German origin who made Milan his home, was among the most intellectually rigorous figures in international design of the second half of the twentieth century. The creator of objects that have entered history - from the Tizio lamp to the ThinkPad computer - Sapper always worked on the subtle boundary between absolute function and formal elegance. With Todo, he brought this approach into the kitchen as well: no superfluous ornament, no concession to decoration for its own sake, yet an unmistakable stage presence on the countertop or a fully set table. We chose it for Stilmobili because it perfectly embodies that tension between utility and beauty at the heart of our selection. Todo is not an accessory to put away: it is an object to display, to show guests, becoming a visible part of a conscious way of living. It is ideal for those who love Italian cuisine in its most authentic gestures and want even everyday tools to have a signature, a story, and a reason. Design notes: stainless steel and wood; height 46 cm, 10×10 cm base; suitable for hard cheeses and whole nutmeg. Designed by Richard Sapper for Alessi, permanent collection.
