Details: The “Tonale” Table Service, designed by David Chipperfield, is a seemingly random collection of typologically ambiguous objects, composed of a variety of pieces that include carafes, plates and bowls, glasses and cups. The project draws inspiration from Korean, Japanese and Chinese vernacular ceramics and is conceived as an exercise in refining some functional objects from the world of household goods. The name “Tonale” refers to Morandi’s approach to the theme of color and tonality that gives his everyday objects a personal character. The components of the project are produced preserving their expressive purity while honoring the requirements for a durable, practical and versatile service.
