Alessi — Wowl BM13/28 BM13/28 B | Dog bowl in resin and steel

There is something surprisingly coherent about Alessi deciding to bring its formal vocabulary into the world of our animal companions. Wowl is a dog bowl that makes no apology for being beautiful: a body in glossy, compact black thermoplastic resin, topped with a rim in 18/10 stainless steel that reflects the light with the same composure as a tableware object. The shape is generous - 28 centimeters in diameter, a full and rounded presence - yet it does not feel heavy. It sits on the floor as a design piece sits on a shelf: naturally and intentionally. Michel Boucquillon, a French-Italian designer with an architectural background, is known for an approach in which structural rigor translates into objects endowed with an almost anthropomorphic character. With Wowl - the name itself is an onomatopoeic play on "bowl" and the sound of a dog - Boucquillon brings that sensibility to the realm of pet accessories, an area too often sacrificed to the anonymity of mass retail. The result is an object that engages with contemporary interiors without giving up its primary function. We at Stilmobili chose it because we believe good design should not stop at the threshold of the living room. Wowl is the ideal gift for those who love their pets with the same care they use when choosing a sofa or a lamp: people who accept no aesthetic compromises, even in the most everyday details. An object to give, and to keep. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel and black thermoplastic resin. Dimensions 28 × 27 × 15.7 cm. Designed by Michel Boucquillon for Alessi. Item being phased out of current production.
