Flou Amal - The Headboard as an Architectural Gesture
Some beds define a room without dominating it, while others transform it into a story. Amal belongs to the second category: its headboard, held in place by metal profiles that "pinch" the upholstery with sartorial precision, brings a construction detail into the bedroom that can change the perception of the entire space.
The Amal Design
Designed by Carlo Colombo in 2017 for Flou, Amal was conceived to elevate the double bed through a structural element that becomes ornamental. The metal profiles on either side of the headboard are not an applied decoration: they are an integral part of the design, and their role is to enhance the softness of the upholstery through contrast. The three available finishes - polished gold, matt burnished, and glossy black nickel - have been designed to complement the range of fabrics and leathers, offering a freedom of combination suited to very different aesthetic styles, from a bedroom with classic elegance to one with a bolder contemporary character.
