The Duetto project
Created in 1992 through the in-house research of the Flou Research Centre, Duetto addresses a precise question: how can functions be multiplied without multiplying the footprint? The answer is a double-bed system in which the second bed slides out and lifts beneath the first using gas pistons, occupying exactly the space of a single bed. When the two units are placed side by side, they are secured with steel and rubber blocks to ensure stability and strength. The structure is completely upholstered — in fabric or leather, with removable covers for easy care — and the sleeping surface features fixed slats. The cover, pillowcase pockets and bolster cushions define a neat, cohesive silhouette even in the sofa configuration. The optional addition of a backrest allows the composition to be further customised according to the needs of the space.
