Flou Taormina - The bed that embraces seamlessly
Taormina stems from a reflection on the relationship between bed and mattress: as mattress thickness increases, the bed must respond with a geometry capable of containing it without compressing it. The result is a fluid silhouette in which the bed frame rises and transforms into the headboard without ever breaking, reshaping the vertical perception of the bedroom.
The Taormina design
Developed in 2021 by the Flou Research Centre, Taormina is designed to accommodate mattresses of considerable height - including those topped with toppers - while maintaining harmonious visual proportions. The continuity between the bed frame and headboard is not merely aesthetic: it reflects a precise design choice to eliminate formal discontinuities and create a single, enveloping volume. A visible seam runs along the entire perimeter of the headboard, emphasizing its curve and giving depth to the profile. The upholstery, available in fabric or leather, is completely removable thanks to perimeter Velcro fastenings - a functional detail that does not compromise the clean lines.
